We saw the same strategy during Manipur. Because for them, negotiating under pressure creates a precedent.

If a hunger strike forces a minster's resignation today, they will fear crumbling to pressure again tomorrow.

Why Are People Talking About Government Silence?

Forget accepting our demands, they would see negotiations as a sign of weakness. And when the Prime Minister himself publicly backs & wishes Dharmendra Pradhan with a loving birthday tweet during these protests for his resignation, the message isn't hard to miss. This government is not preparing for compromise.

It has been shameless all along and wouldn't care if something happened to him. The question is not whether Sonam Wangchuk can outlast the government. The question is whether you can speak up now and make sure the government responds.
